Hana Yori Dango(花より男子)

(Note:I reviewed the series as a whole..i.e the 2 seasons of the series and the movie that followed it)
Hana Yori Dango was my first attempt at watching a j-drama.And after watching many more,I'd say that Hana Yori Dango remains my favorite j-drama till date. The drama provides a nice balance of comedy ,sadness, love, hate, jealousy and other dramatic elements. The drama is based on a very popular manga of the same name. The story involves girl from a not so rich family(actually quite poor) who is studying in an Elite school for the rich.Besides that the school is apparently run by a group of 4 boys(who are quite handsome!) called F4 who reign total dominance over the school as their parents donated vast amounts of money to the school. Our Heroine,Makino Tsukushi(played by Mao Inoue ) has a run in with the group and gets into trouble especially with the head of the group Domyouji Tsukasa(Played byJun Matsumoto )
From there on the story mainly focusses on Makino's relations with the group ,especially with Doumyouji. The first season mainly focusses on Makino and her relationships with the F4.The story later on develops into a love story between Makino and Domyouji, which becomes evident in the latter part of the season.Season 2(known as Hana Yori Dango Returns) continues from where the first season left off.The second season focusses more on the relationship between Domyouji and Makino.Class differences and the ways of the rich are given more emphasis here.Season 2 has it's good moments except for certain fillerish episodes which were very tiring to watch. The story concludes in the movie Hana Yori Dango:Final, which is more of an adventure oriented story!!
(L-R:Tsuyoshi Abe,Shun Oguri,Mao Inoue,Jun Matsumoto,Shota Matsuda)

Hana Yori Dango is a great entertainment package. If you are ever interested in watching a j-drama then Hana Yori Dango is definately the one you should watch!

Relife

So, it's finally over. Relife officially ended with it's 222nd chapter.  Relife was a manga I read by accident tbh. Not in the sense that I randomly picked it up, but it in the sense that the manga turned into something completely different than what I had intended it to be. With the premise set up to guiltrip people who are in the late 20's, relife did an excellent job of this throughout. Though, there were many times the story's pacing and direction was all over the place. Not to mention the science behind the Relife experiment, which when explained was honestly borderline stupid. But, what Relife great was it's characters, and the recurring theme of regrets . This all came into place especially in the last arc of the Manga where the mangaka did a stellar job giving some excellent tear jerking moments and despairing the readers of the idea of a forbidden/unachievable romance. It was romance done right in a Manga, something that I haven't seen in a long time. ...

Saekano ( How to raise a boring girlfriend)

I tend to watch underrated Anime once in a while. There's always a hit and miss in doing so. Some turn out good, some turn out trash and some are like Saekano. Also, known as 'How to raise a boring girlfriend' , this show completely polarized my opinion of it till the end. For starters, there was forced ecchi fanservice was clearly unneeded for a show which was clearly trying to be a serious slice of life anime, but clearly what troubled me the most on the direction the show was heading. The first season for the most was mediocre, but not bad. The problem was in the second season where the show turned itself upside down, to the point I felt it lost its flavor and made me rage a bit about certain developments in the plot towards the end. One thing going good for it though was it's character development, which was really good. The show even though ended well, was pretty much really saved by the best girl of the show, who was there for MC at the end. The character developm...
